Reflux and Weight Update!

We had an appointment with a specialist last week for Ava's reflux. Now, we have been waiting for this appointment since the beginning of January, and wouldn't you know it -- Ava's reflux improved dramatically on its own the week before! I have no idea if she is just growing out of it or if the zantac is making a difference (or both), but she has rarely been crying when she eats. She still spits up quite a bit (and it occasionally comes out her nose), but she doesn't seem to be in pain. This is wonderful news! The specialist said to just keep doing what we're doing. She wants her to stay on the zantac as long as she is still spitting up frequently -- the acid can damage her esophagus and nasal passages if not neutralized. But since she does not seem to be in pain anymore and she is gaining well, we do not need to do anything else at this point. I'm just so grateful that she is no longer in pain!

Of course the doctor weighed/measured her, and she is now 14 pounds and 25 inches long. She is too long for most 3 to 6 month clothes at this point. I had to retire her 3-month jeans, and her 6-month jeans are *just* long enough. WOW!

And, just because she is adorable, a few gratuitous pics of Ava. Here she is, looking incredibly proud of herself after she managed to pull Eli (the elephant) over to her mouth, spit out the pacifier, and get his ear in her mouth. We only put him (and the mirrors)in the crib with her when she is supervised, of course!
