28 Weeks (and 2 Days)!

I had a prenatal appointment on Monday (every two weeks from now on), and my fundal height was two weeks ahead, which is consistent with the ultrasound last week. The doctor said that we will have another ultrasound at 34 weeks. If, at that ultrasound, she is still measuring so far ahead (particularly her head and shoulders), we will have the option of scheduling a cesarean at 39 weeks. Given that so many babies go into distress when there are problems with delivery, plus what I have read about shoulders and collarbones having to be broken when babies are too big, I will definitely trust my doctor's judgment on this one. If she says Ava is too big to be delivered safely, then I will certainly listen!

Otherwise, not much to report. My BP has been great. I'm not sleeping much, but I've been told this is normal (although it SUCKS). The nursery is about 97% done now -- the pictures are hung, and the glider and bedding have arrived. We just need a rug and curtains, and we are good to go!

Here's what Ava is up to this week:

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
