5 Months Old!

Ava is 5 months old today!

There is a lot going on in Ava's world these days! All of the sudden Ava is very aware of everything around her. She is incredibly curious and "nosey," too. She wants to see and touch everything (and put it all in her mouth). She has to know what is going on no matter where we are -- she loves to people-watch in stores and restaurants. One day Ava suddenly seemed to notice Lucy (our dog), as if for the first time. Now she wants to pet her constantly and loves when Lucy gives her kisses (I, however, do not love this so much).

Ava can now roll across the bed to get to something that she wants! She has also started to reach for us when she wants to be picked up. She is learning to flirt, and she giggles all the time. She is sitting really well without assistance, too. We're still working on it but it won't be long now before she can sit up by herself. She also loves to stand (supported) and wants to do nothing but stand all day long. She is still LOVING solid food, especially carrots. She also likes pears mixed with her cereal or oatmeal in the morning. Today we introduced homemade green bean puree mixed with the carrot puree. She seemed to like it! She is still teething like mad -- given the ridiculous amounts of drool and the way she chomps down on her fingers, I expect a tooth at any time now.

She is still sleeping incredibly well (11-12 hours straight at night) and goes down so easily -- we are very grateful! We've also started to get a good nap schedule down, and she has started napping in her crib. She is a well-rested, happy little girl most days!

The monthly photo shoots are getting more and more difficult as Ava gets more curious and mobile. We may not have a perfect picture, but the ones we get are pretty hilarious!

(By the way... there are lots more pictures on my shutterfly site -- password is "rockrohr".)

"Hey PupPup! Want to be in the picture, too?"

"Ok, ok -- I'll smile!"

"Hey...what's going on over there?"

"Yum! This sign is TASTY."

5 month picture -- FAIL.

Silly giggles.
